Wilda L.
Handler
Aug 18, 1941 — Oct 13, 2022
Wilda Handler, 81 of Holcombe, WI passed away peacefully on October 13th 2022, joining her loving husband, Richard Handler, who preceded her in death just three short months prior. Although she will be dearly missed, her family has comfort that the two are now together once again, where they've always belonged.
Wilda was born to John and Louva Fryer in Bradford, IL in 1941. Wilda had 6 brothers and sisters who she shares fond memories of childhood with. Although Wilda had many exciting stories to share from her youth in the 60's, Wilda's proudest accomplishment was her family.
Through hard work and determination, Wilda raised her only child, Patrick Shannon, as a single mother with the help of her family. Wilda remembers Patrick being "easy" to raise and always a "good boy".
Wilda met her husband, Rich, through Rich's daughter Christine who played matchmaker, in 1991. Wilda married the love of her life Richard Handler on August 3rd, 1993.
Wilda and Rich retired to God's country in Holcombe, WI in 2001. The two enjoyed the next twenty years living their best life on Lake Holcombe by cruising around on their golf cart, slow boat rides, visits from family, gardening, watching football (always the Dolphins and Cowboys) and having dinner and drinks with each other which always included her favorite, a screwdriver.
Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Wilda had eight grandchildren: Alyssa (Sean), Kegan, Nathan, Mason (who she and Rich endearingly nick-named Homer), Bradley, Blaze, Brynna, and Garrett. She was a Great Grandmother to Olivia, Jack, Jaidyn, Lily, Sage, Omry, Bailey and one more on the way.
Wilda will be endearingly remembered for her creative expressions, her ability to speak her mind, and the love for her family that she showed in her own way.
Wilda is survived by her son Patrick (Stacey) Shannon of Genoa, IL, step-children Richard J. Handler of Johnsburg, IL and Christine M. Handler (Dan) of Bloomer, WI, her siblings Susan D'Anna of Winter Park, FL , Jerry Fryer of Rolling Meadows, IL, Marilyn (Greg) Snyder of North Canton, OH, and all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilda was preceded in death by her parents, John and Louva Fryer, her brothers Lowell Fryer, Linford Fryer, Richard Fryer (Millicent) and her husband Richard Handler.
At Wilda's request, there will not be a service but a private "see you later".
