Timothy Dean Tewksbury, age 76, a lifelong resident of Sycamore, passed away unexpectedly on October 9th at his beloved home of 48 years on Parkside Drive.

Born on February 2, 1949, to Donald and Eva Tewksbury, Tim's early life was marked by tragedy when a car accident claimed his mother and three other women when he was just one year old. Tim was lovingly raised by his grandmother, Florence, and his bonus grandfather, Fred Housewert, who instilled in him a strong work ethic, engineering skills, and countless stories that Tim cherished and shared with his own children. He was always grateful for the stability and support they provided, growing up alongside his uncle, Al Tewksbury, and his Overlee cousins.

Tim graduated from Sycamore High School in 1967, proud to be part of a five-generation legacy at the school. He was a standout athlete, known as the "Sycamore Lefty," and famously pitched a shutout against DeKalb in his senior year.

In 1969, Tim enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston as a clerk. After his discharge in 1971, he spent time in Colorado with cousins before returning to Sycamore. His passion for sports continued throughout his life, playing volleyball, basketball, and 16-inch softball—his favorite, which he described as "the most fun you could have with your pants on."

Tim was a proud founding member of the Good Tymes committee, enjoying many picnics with friends, including his first date with the love of his life, Paulette, in 1976. He often joked about leaving a friend stranded because Paulette was in the car and nothing else mattered. Tim and Paulette were married on August 6, 1977, sharing 43 wonderful years together until her passing in 2021.

Together, they raised five children—their "Fab Five": Tim (Lori) Casey, Colleen (Donald) Butts, Sarah (John) Kristin, Julie (Erik) Jordal, and Dean (Randi) Tewksbury. Tim reveled in the joy of his 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of friends he considered brothers, including Bruce and Barry Kerbal.

In 1985, Tim celebrated a trifecta: the birth of his son, the Chicago Bears' Super Bowl victory, and the start of his career at the Genoa Post Office, where he commandeered until his retirement in 2014. A proud Chicago Bears season ticket holder, Tim's love of sports was inherited from his grandfather, Glenn Tewksbury, who purchased tickets outside Wrigley Field in 1928. Tim shared his passion for Chicago sports with his children and grandchildren.

A celebration of Tim's life will be held on Tuesday, October 14th at Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore, IL, from 1:00–4:00 pm, with a service at 3:00 pm. Please wear Chicago Bears gear to the service. Green Bay fans should wear formal wear, Tim would want them as uncomfortable as possible.
