Obituary

Suzanne Mary (Hill) Royer

(March 13, 1951 – August 16, 2025)

Suzanne M. (Hill) Royer, 74, passed away peacefully at her home in Sycamore, IL where she was with her family, as she had always wanted. Suzanne "Suz" Royer was the proud daughter of O. Donald & Mary Hill, the World's BEST mother to her daughter, Mary Michelle, and a ROCK STAR grandmother to the Joy of her life, Joseph Donald.

Suzanne was raised on the farm in Ashton, IL, where they grew tomatoes & peas for DelMonte, and then moved on to corn & soybeans.  She was a graduate of Ashton High School, Class of 1969. She first worked for the State School in Dixon, Il before coming over to DeKalb, IL to work for NIU where she retired after 37 1/2 years to care for her parents, spend time family, and enjoy being a Grandma, which was the pure enjoyment of her life.

Suzanne was blessed with an amazing family.  She is survived by daughter, Mary Ozgowicz, her Grandson, Joseph Ozgowicz, and her 3 grand-dogs; Stanley, Penelope, & Hank.  She also leaves behind her 3 brothers, whom she loved beyond words: Jim (Sue) Hill of Buena Vista, CO, John Hill of Rockford, IL, & Joel (Donna) Hill of Dallas, TX, and was the absolute proudest Aunt to all of her nieces and nephews: David, Becky, Michael, Andrew, Veronica, Ethan, Austin, Katherine, & Grace.  Suzanne is preceded in death by her husband, Gary L. Royer, and her parents, O. Donald & Mary M. Hill of Ashton, IL.

A special Thank You goes out to Corey Akers for taking the greatest care of my mom to help me keep her at her home, Home Instead for coming to the house and giving her the most compassionate care, First Health Hospice for preserving her dignity every step of the way, mom's 2 amazing friends, Debbie & LuAnn, for coming for weekly visits just to make mom smile, and last but not least the most amazing nurse, Christine Wofford – Thank you for just being you and loving her as much as she loved you, you are forever part of my family now.  Love always, Mary ♥

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 29th from 11am – 3pm at Blumen Gardens (Tearoom) in Sycamore, IL.  Please come by and share some of your favorite memories. We will be at our house in Sycamore afterwards so, if you need the address just contact family.  Suzanne loved to laugh and that is what we will do ♥
