Stephanie A. Potter, 35, of DeKalb, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020.  She was born on Sept. 21, 1985, in St Charles, IL to George and Laura (Przybyla) Potter. She married Sean Kayes on Nov. 5, 2016.

Stephanie graduated Valedictorian of her class at the Harlem High School. She went on to Benedictine University and majored in Biology.  After graduation she began teaching science at Byron Middle School.  During her four years battling cancer, she continued her education, earning a Masters Degree in education, from Northern Illinois University.

Stephanie loved to cook and bake.  She was very artistic and loved painting, scrapbooking, card making, and crocheting.  She was very talented and excelled in everything that she did.  She loved to pick out gifts for others on their birthdays.  In her final days of life she even gifted her mom a ring that her and her brother picked out to present to her on her 40th wedding anniversary, but was unable on that date because she was in the hospital. She also made sure that the baby gifts she bought for her best friend's baby to be born the end of October were wrapped and presented them to her while she visited Stephanie in her final days.

Survivors include her husband Sean Kayes, parents George and Laura Potter and her dogs Sonny and Leo.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Norbert and Maureen Przybyla, Vita Potter and her brother Daniel Norbert Potter.

A walk through visitation will be on Saturday Oct. 10th beginning at 9:30 AM and ending for the public at 12:30 PM, at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL All covid precautions will be enforced-facial coverings, social distancing and 25 guests at one time.

A graveside service will then take place for friends and family at 2:30 PM, at the Fairview Park Cemetery, Dekalb.
