Stella Caibaiosai, 78, of Sycamore died on July 9, 2023 at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.

Stella was born in Ontario Canada and resided on the Spanish River Reservation  until her teenage years, when the family decided to come to the U.S.

She spoke fluent Ojibwa and English.  As a child she learned how to fish, trap and forage on the Reservation. She finished school here in the states.

After getting married she became a full time homemaker and loving mother of three; and forever cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren and family members.  She loved taking pictures, continued to enjoy foraging, fishing and traveling the states.

She was a dedicated member of Seventh Day Adventist Church.   She enjoyed and donated her time to charity work and helping others. She had a giving, gentle, kind, loving soul that will be missed.

Survivors include her children, Frank Preas (Lori Hinkle), Faith (Lance) Sandy and Stephen (Vincenza) Preas; her grandchildren, Bryce Sandy, Derek Sandy and Zachary Sandy; step-mother, Evelyn Gorra; brother, Gary Caibaiosai; and cousins, Bob and Roger Caibaiosai.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Della Cash and Gilbert Caibaiosai and sister, Judy McKittrick.

Her visitation will be on Saturday, July 22nd from 1:00-3:30 PM  at the First Baptist Church, 530 W. State St., Sycamore, IL.  The funeral service will begin at 3:30 PM.  A luncheon and time for fellowship will follow the service at the Church.

Burial will be private.
