Stacey Rae Shannon, 53, of Genoa, IL passed away peacefully in the house she made a home surrounded by her loving family on May 29, 2025.

Stacey was born on November 15, 1971 at Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Gary and Jo Ann (Sampley) Bottcher.  She graduated from Barrington High School in 1989. Stacey married her high school sweetheart and the love her life Patrick Shannon on June 6, 1992.

Stacey loved shopping, organizing, DIY projects, making crafts, meticulously decorating her home, and making honey-do lists for Pat and then "supervising" and insisting a project could be under budget and ahead of schedule. She enjoyed going to concerts and traveling with her family and friends. She loved the sun and the cookouts, boating and the beach, and spending time with family in the backyard that came with it. In colder months, Saturday was for "getting [things] done" and Sunday was reserved for football.

Stacey did not have an athletic bone in her body and she was okay with that because she cheered from the sidelines for decades for her family. She lived for tournaments, Broncos and Cogs football games, and even running around Saturday mornings to watch her grandkids games. She loved her "little town" of Genoa and where neighbors and friends became family and she could enjoy quiet walks and coffee on her cozy front porch.

Stacey couldn't have been more proud of her children not just for their accomplishments but who they are as people. She would always say "I wish I could be more organized like Alyssa", "more brave like Kegan", "more adventurous like Nate", or "make a friend with anyone like Mason", not realizing these are all just qualities that came from her.

After raising her children, Stacey began a career in healthcare administration. Stacey had worked at the Northwestern Medicine Kishwaukee Cancer Center for many years with compassion and care for patients but also coworkers who became friends.

Stacey will live on through her husband Patrick, her four children Alyssa (Sean), Kegan, Nathan, and Mason, and her grandchildren Jack and Olivia. She will be deeply missed by her parents Gary and Jo Ann and her siblings Cari (Michael) and Toby. Stacey also leaves her nieces and nephews that will cherish their memories of their sweet Auntie: Corina (Fabian), Caitlin, Garrik, Tessa, Oliver, and Elias.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Arthur and Elrena Bottcher and John and Jeanette Sampley as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law Richard and Wilda Handler.

Her Memorial Gathering will be on Tuesday, June 3rd from 3:00-8:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 South Main Street, Genoa, IL where her family welcomes all to attend to not just say their goodbyes to Stacey but share memories and stories of a life well lived but gone too soon.
