Obituary

Sidney L. Orstead, 77, of Waterman, IL. died suddenly on April 26, 2022 at NW Medicine- Kishwaukee Hospital.

He was born on February 16, 1945 in Aurora to Lawrence and Cathryn M. (Blakely) Orstead.  He married Sheila Westphal on April 15, 1967.
Sidney was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Vietnam War.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting watching the Chicago Cubs and Bulls games and most of all being with his family.  Sidney has a heart of gold and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He was a farmer in the southern part of DeKalb County for 20 years, a custodian at Northern Illinois University for 10 years, worked in the maintenance department at St Mary's in DeKalb for over 6 years and delivered medicine to customers for Lehan Drugs in DeKalb.
Survivors include his daughters, Michelle Orstead and Meredith Orstead (Rodney Buehler); brother, Rick (Karen) Orstead; sisters, Karen (John) Curry and Nancy (Richard) Radtke; sisters-in-law, Sharon Orstead and Marlene Orstead; brother-in-law, Gene Livingston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sheila and five siblings, Dale Orstead, Richard Orstead, Sue Livingston, Joyce (Larry) Bretthauer and Jack Orstead.
Services for Sidney will be private.
