Obituary

The family of Sharron Patricia (Magee) Bitner, 80, is heartbroken to announce her passing, with loved ones by her side on June 22, 2023 in Sycamore, Illinois.

She would not let the neuroendocrine carcinoid cancer keep her down, it may have slowed her steps but she marched on through her journey with grace and a positive humble outlook.

Sharron was born August 14, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Hazel (Ritt) Magee. Raised in West Chicago, Illinois she would later marry Dean G. Bitner of Winfield, Illinois. They made their home in West Chicago where they raised their children Heidi, Holly, and Michael. Dean's job at Plastofilm Industries lead them to the mountains of Nevada (their favorite place) where they continued to raise Michael in Reno. Exploring and searching for treasures (Rockhounding) brought them much joy with friends of the Reno Gem and Mineral Society.

Upon Dean's retirement they would call Yerington, Nevada "Home." Sharron spent much of her time volunteering for the Boys and Girls Club of Mason Valley until their return to Illinois in 2017.

Sharron lost her husband Dean, of 53 years shortly after their arrival to Sycamore, Illinois. She found renewed happiness with Larry Johnson. Their many trips, "Escapades," she liked to call them fulfilled her last couple years.

Sharron is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dean, parents Charles and Hazel, brothers Dan and Bob Magee, and sister Eunice Kessel.

Sharron leaves behind her loving companion Larry Johnson of Sycamore, Illinois, son Michael (Virginia) Bitner of Fernley, Nevada, daughter Heidi (Larry) Scaletta of Geneva, Illinois, Daughter Holly (Gary) Schmidt of Sycamore, Illinois, 7 grandchildren, Michelle and Vivian Bitner, Sam Scaletta, Lauren (Scaletta) DeGood, Kevin, Shannon and Allison Schmidt, and great granddaughter Olivia DeGood.

"A special thank you to the Doctors and Staff at the University of Iowa Hospital for giving us more time to spend with her."

Her memorial visitation will be held on August 10, from 4:00-6:00pm at the Butala Funeral Homes and Crematory, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL 60178.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations made to "The Boys and Girls Club of America" in honor of Sharron Bitner.
