Obituary

Sharon R. (Lee) Eberly, 76, of Genoa, died July 31, 2023, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 5, 1947, in DeKalb to William and Mildred (Votaw) Lee.  She married Richard A. Eberly on July 8, 1964 in Malta, Illinois.

Sharon was a school bus driver for Genoa-Kingston School District for over 30 years.  She thoroughly enjoyed the students, especially her KEC crew.

She was a lifelong Chicago Cub fan. Watching them win the 2016 World Series was one of the highlights of her life.  Sharon was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching all types of sporting events, especially girls' softball.

Sharon's children and grandchildren remember hours of shopping with her, yet buying nothing.  Her distinct yelling voice when she couldn't see you, movie nights (most not age appropriate), scratching her feet for money, Trouble game tournaments, and constant texts and phone calls asking for help with her iPhone.  The family enjoyed hotel stays, Sunday football, Karaoke nights, and milestone birthday parties.

Her siblings have fond memories of traveling with her.  She was an easy going and cheerful companion.  They always looked forward to her visits, funny phone calls, and hilarious text messages.

Sharon's friends would say she had a quick wit and a great sense of humor.  Her co-workers laughed with her and at her.  She never missed a mailbox or a day on the couch.

Survivors include her husband Richard (Dick) Eberly, her children Jamie (Ed) Frye, Dana (Corey) Purifoy, Kurt (Amber) Eberly.

Grandchildren: Daniel (Melyssa) Gustafson, Taylor (Paul) Maciaszek, Tony (Karen) Saucedo, Nico (Heather) Saucedo, Caden Frye, Savanna (Tyler) Hughes, Brody Eberly, Halle Eberly, Janetta (Onre') Talbert, Lisa Sanchez, Kristian (Alexis) Carson.
