Scott T. Wager was born October 17, 1948 in Chicago, IL. and died peacefully on Nov. 22, 2023 at home in Sycamore, IL. following a short battle with cancer.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth and Roy Wager.

He is survived by his beloved wife and high school sweetheart, Linda (Bargmann) Wager, his only child Carrianne May (Scott) and her mother Patricia Wager, three sisters Cindy Wager, Elizabeth Calonico and Claudia Baker, one brother Lans Wager, four stepchildren Ryan Cox, Cybil Snider (Rusty), Austin Cox and Justine Cox, and 11 step grandchildren.

Scott grew up in Medinah, IL. and graduated from Lake Park High School in 1966. He attended College of DuPage 1968-1970, later earning his BA degree at National Louis University in 1996. Scott wrote his final college paper on what he considered to be his greatest accomplishment in life, raising his amazing daughter Carrianne. Scott served on the College of DuPage Alumni Board for many years. He was also a volunteer for the College of DuPage Radio Station, WDCB-90.9 FM prior to becoming a full-time staff member in 1981. Scott served as the morning announcer and later as the Station Manager.

Additionally, Scott served as a member of the College of DuPage Chapparal Coaching for 35 years. Scott found great satisfaction working with the coaching staff and hundreds of players. In the words of the head coach, Don Klaas, Scott treated every player as if they were his own kid. Recently Scott was nominated for the College of DuPage Athletic Hall of Fame, which he so deserves.

Scott had many other areas of enjoyment to include coaching his daughter's volleyball team and being her biggest fan, never missing a game to cheer her on. Scott was also an avid fan of auto racing and formed Scott Wager Enterprises, sponsoring the local racing team, Lawver Racing, for many years. Scott was also known for his love of music, talented both as a singer, drummer, and organizer of his own band. He also enjoyed theater and performed in several plays with lead parts.

Scott was bigger than life everywhere he went, never knowing a stranger, extending his love for people so effortlessly to all. No time was wasted in his presence. He will be greatly missed by all.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, December 9th from 2:00-4:00 pm at Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave. in Sycamore, IL.
At 3:00 pm, Don Klaas will officiate a time of sharing.
