Scot Edward Rush, 62 of Sycamore, Illinois, left his earthly body peacefully and into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at the University of Chicago Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Born to William and Shirley (Rose) Rush on June 28, 1963, in Belvidere, Illinois and later moving to DeKalb.  Scot developed many lifelong friendships in DeKalb that he cherished greatly while attending and graduating school in DeKalb.  While taking a shop class in DeKalb, Scot developed a passion for mechanics.  This led him to attend classes at Kishwaukee College.  He loved working on cars, rebuilding motors, computers, and in his later years, guitars.

Scot had a deep love for country music and found great joy in singing and playing guitar.  He also learned to play the steel guitar, just like his dad—a skill and bond that carried deep personal meaning.  Outside of music, Scot enjoyed going out for coffee with friends, and spending time camping and fishing—simple pleasures that brought him peace and happiness.  He loved being a grandpa and uncle.  He was also a devoted fan of WWF wrestling and never missed a chance to cheer on his favorite wrestlers with passion and excitement.  This was another love that was shared between Scot and his dad.

Scot was the kind of person who would give you his last dollar or the only dry shirt off his back without hesitation.  His generosity and kindness touched countless lives, and his selflessness was a true reflection of the depth of his character. He will be remembered for his warmth, humor, generous heart, and the joy he brought through his music and presence.  His strength in the face of lifelong adversity was nothing short of remarkable.  He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne Rush; his stepchildren, Vicky (Matt) Anderson, John (Nichole) Flynn, and Marie (Jacob) Grady; and multiple grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Rush; his sister, Carmen (Phil) Siragusa; his nieces, Kayla, Abbey, and Payton; and his great-nieces, Adley and Emmy.  He is also survived by numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles.  Scot absolutely loved his dogs.  He is survived by his faithful soulmate and buddy Izzy.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Rush; grandfather, Elmer Rush; grandmother, Helen Witt; grandfather, Ralph Rose; grandmother, Marie Albrecht; his uncle, Fred Davis; aunt, Ella Davis; uncle, Robert Rose; and uncle, Rick Weaver; cousins, Randy Clark, Sandra Hyde, Randy Fannon, Gary Fannon, Theresa Davis Renehan.

Scot is now free from pain, breathing easy, and fully restored—his body made perfect.
