Born May 26, 1942 in Henderson, KY to Reverend Samuel A. and Mother Virgie A. (Jackson)
Wilson Sr., Deacon Samuel was raised by his grandparents Deacon Luke and Fannie Wilson Sr.
While in the United States Army, he served as company clerk for his commanding officer during
the Vietnam War.
On October 2, 1963 he married Eva D. Reece, a mate he grew up with in the Israel of God's
Church as children. Of this union they were blessed with five children; Samuel A. (Arlene)
Wilson III of Union, KY, Patricia Ann Wilson, Debra Lynn Wilson, Craig Martin Wilson, and Isaac
Adrian Wilson, Sycamore, IL.
Deacon Samuel and Sister Eva were requested to move from Danville, IL to Sycamore, IL by
Bishop Wm Jones in 1965, where Deacon Wilson faithfully served as the church secretary for
nearly 40 years. He worked for Anaconda Wire and Cable in Sycamore, iL for a number of
years, and then for Chrysler Corporation in Belvidere, IL for 36 years until he retired..
Deacon Samuel Anthony Wilson Jr, 82, of Sycamore, IL died in his home on May 30, 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents Reverend Samuel and Mother Virgie Wilson Sr, three
brothers, William, Joseph, and Virgil, and two sisters Jennette and Sis Cora Wilson.
Deacon Samuel leaves to treasure the many memories his wife Eva of 62 years, his five
children, 9 grandchildren, Jordan Spenser Wilson, Alexander Richard Wilson, Deonte Mikel
Wilson, Chandler Reece Wilson, Cheyla Eve Wilson, Kennedy Rebecca Wilson, Ravin Marie
WIlson, Synclair Emily Wilson, and Bayleigh Rose WIlson; 2 great-grandchildren, Evelyn Marie
Wilson and August Andrel Law.
Three sisters, Sis Delores Wilson, Danville, IL, Fanita and Brenda Wilson, Sycamore, IL. His
aunt, Mother Della Easley, Danville, IL. Many many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his
Church family of a lifetime.
We would like to thank our Israel of God Church family and Bishop Ronald C. Henton, and the
team from Northern IL Hospice; Becca, his nurse, Chaplin Olson, and Krissy Frank from social
services.
His visitation will be on Saturday, June 15th from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the Israel of God's Church, W.H.A., 248 North Avenue, Sycamore, IL., with a funeral service beginning at 11:00 AM.
