Samuel Beatty was born on September 25, 1957, to Thelma Powell and Roba
Beatty, both of whom preceded him in death. Samuel lived a life defined by
service, strength, faith, and an undeniable presence.

Known for his charming personality, dance moves and natural charisma, Samuel had a presence that could not be ignored. When he walked into a room, people couldn't help but notice him. His confidence, warmth, and spirit left lasting impressions on everyone he encountered. He will be remembered not only for his service and dedication, but for the way he made others feel simply by being himself.

He proudly served 12 years in the United States Army, receiving an honorable discharge, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his country. Following his military service, Samuel continued a life of public service and hard work. He retired from Waste Management of New Mexico, previously served as a Correctional Officer in Colorado Springs, and was most recently employed with Transdev Services, where he was respected and admired for his strong work ethic and commitment. Samuel was baptized at an early age and carried his faith with him throughout his life.

He was the proud father of Samuel Beatty Jr., Nikita Beatty (Eliud Salinas) and Tina Alexander (Reginald Alexander) and was preceded in death by his beloved son, Elijah Beatty.

Samuel is survived by his loving sisters Kim Gonzalez, Jane Powell, Florine Henley and Audrey Carter. He is also survived by his brothers Winslow Powell, James Powell II, Stanford Thompson and special friend Mary Bomar.

He was preceded in death by his brother Donald Appleton, Floyd DePaul Singleton and sister Yolanda Beatty-Harris, Samuel leaves behind a cherished legacy through his grandchildren: Isaiah Miller, Brittnie Beatty, Dominique Beatty, Arriyah Batista, Markaya Wendes, Aniya Salinas, and Enaya Salinas. Samuel Beatty's legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.

His visitation will be on Saturday, January 10, 2026 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.  A funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Pastor J.E. Burch III officiating.

A repast will be held at the Sycamore VFW Hall, 121 S. California St., Sycamore, IL following the service.
