Rose Mary Contreras, 81, of Dekalb transitioned peacefully on Saturday, December 27, 2025. Born January 8, 1944, Rose worked at the Dekalb Country Rehab & Nursing Center before her retirement. After retirement she spent her time enjoying her crossword puzzles and bingo on Tuesdays with her friends.

Rose is survived by her two sons Brandon (Sara) and Peter (Jeanette), daughter Paula, brother Ray Crowley, grandchildren Amber (Steven), Brittany (Glenn), Angelina (Brian), Marcella (Cella), Nayeli, Scarlett, Samantha (Sam), & Sophie, as well as her great grandchildren Caitlyn, Tristan, Darren, Lexi, Noah, and Sophia.

She is preceded in death by her parents Frances and Stuart Crowley, siblings Shirley, Ina (Jeannie), John, and Stuart (Richard), husband(s) Ramon (Ray) Contreras & Orville Askvig, children Angel, Dawn, & Jackie, Ray (Squirt), Julie, & great grandchild Makayla.

Her visitation will be on Friday, January 9, 2026 from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.

Burial will follow at 1:30 PM at the Mound Rest Cemetery in Cortland, IL.
