Rose F. Brotcke, 95, of Sycamore died September 24, 2023 at her home.

She was born February 17, 1928, the daughter of John L. and Ruth (Bergstrand) Thompson.  She married William E. Brotcke on October 22, 1946 at St. Mary's in Sycamore- a marriage of 63 years. To this marriage three sons were born, Michael, James and Lee.

Rose was a wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker.  Elementary education included one room schools- Pleasant Hill School and Lovell's Crossing School. She graduated from the Sycamore High School.

After her children were grown, Rose was employed as a clerk at the the DeKalb County Treasurer's office for 18 years, retiring in 1988.

Survivors include her sons, Michael (Sally), James (Deborah) and Lee (Cindy); 6 grandchildren, Sarah McCann, Amanda (Julian) Sebek, Katherine (Todd) Nelson, Benjamin (Heather) Brotcke, Paul (Liming) Brotcke and Anna (Craig) Zumsteg; and 11 great grandchildren, Mason and William Bergeson, Emily and Jonathon McCann, Gabriel and Cole Nelson, Clara and Henry Zumsteg, Hayden and Carter Brotcke, and Florence Brotcke.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009; her parents; and 2 brothers, Leonard and Ronald Thompson.

Her visitation will be on Friday, October 13th from 4:00-6:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore.  A memorial service will begin at 6:00 PM at the funeral home.

A private burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore.
