Rosa Anna Hughes, 61, of Genoa died December 2, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on August 3, 1963 in Chicago to Marino and Maria (Martinelli) Furio.  She married Gregg Hughes on April 29, 1994.

Rose dedicated her life to those she loved, especially her great nieces and nephews, who were the light of her life. A constant presence at their sporting events, concerts, and milestones, Rose never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Whether it was attending a game, celebrating a birthday, or simply being there when needed, she poured her heart into the lives of those she held dear, ensuring that everyone knew just how much they were loved.

Rose was a woman of deep faith, and her love for Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She lived out her faith daily, finding great joy in serving her family, her church community, and everyone she encountered. Her weekly Bible study group was a vital part of her routine, where she connected with others in fellowship and prayer, always seeking to love well and encourage those around her. Her faith spurred her on to lead a life of compassion, kindness, and service, always putting others' needs before her own.

For 30 years, Rose worked at Motorola, where she made lasting friendships and was known for her work ethic and dedication. Upon retiring, she spent her time focused on what mattered most—her family. Whether she was taking care of her home, remembering every important date, or simply lending a hand, Rose's presence was a gift to everyone she knew.

A woman of remarkable joy, Rose had a way of lighting up any room she entered. Her sense of humor, infectious laugh, and genuine warmth made her a joy to be around. She had a gift for making people feel seen and loved, and her ability to make others smile was a testament to her radiant spirit.

Rose is preceded in death by her father, Marino, her mother, Maria,  two of her brothers, Dominic and Giovanni and her nephew, Ryan.
She is survived by her husband, Gregg, her sister, Mary, and her brothers, Andrew and Anthony, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and many dear friends who were touched by her loving heart.

Her visitation will be held at Crosswind Community Church, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 A.M.   A celebration of Rose's life will begin at 11:00 A.M. with a luncheon to follow at the church (13100 Cherry Road, Genoa, IL).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to a breast cancer association of your choice.

Though she is no longer with us, Rose's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire and guide all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now at peace, rejoicing in the presence of the Lord she loved so deeply.
