Ronald D. Payton, 84, of Kingston, IL died June 5, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born on August 10, 1940 in Wappapello, MO to Ira and Alpha (Conner) Payton.  He married Dorothy "Dottie" Bakley on March 7, 1998.

Ronald was a veteran of the US Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.  He worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years.

Ronald loved antiques, a variety of different types of collectibles, automobiles and was an avid football fan.

Survivors include his wife, Dottie; 2 sons, Ronald (Renee) Payton, Jr. and Tracy (Kim) Payton; 3 grandchildren, Ronald III (Megan), Andrew and Lauren; 2 great grandchildren, Niko and Giavanna Payton; 2 brothers, Robert and David; 2 sisters, Maxine and Billie Jean; 3 step-sons, Ted (Joyce) Anderson, Dale (Becky) Anderson and Chad Bakley (Debbie) and daughter-in-law, Lola Phillips.

He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Russell Anderson.

His visitation will be on Wednesday, June 11 from 3:00-7:30 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL.

His funeral service will be on Thursday, June 12 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the North Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, IL. with military honors.
