Roger Charles O'Brien May 29, 1955-February 4, 2026

Roger O'Brien was born in DeKalb, Illinois on May 29,1955 to Charles J. O'Brien and G. Marlene Milton. He passed away in an accidental fire on February 4, 2026 in DeKalb, Illinois. He started his love for baseball playing for the Tigers in Little League. He continued playing baseball all four years in High School and then started playing softball at the Sycamore Park. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Chicago Bears and the Cubs.

He married Lynda Thompson on June 30, 1984. He is survived by one daughter, Heather Lyn and one son Kyle Robert, Step-father Robert (Bob) Clarner, one sister Sharon (Jim) Lyon, one brother David (Helen) Clarner, one niece April (Daniel) O'Connell, one nephew Brandon Lyon. Grandchildren Aiden Hinson, Mikayla Rowell, Lincoln Gilboy and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his father, Charles O'Brien, his mother G. Marlene (Boots) Clarner, one sister Mary Ann O'Brien.

A big thank you to the DeKalb Fire Department, DeKalb County Coroner, Northwestern Hospital Kishwaukee Hospital, West Ridge Apartment staff and all who looked after him.

Burial will be private.
