Obituary

Roger William Miller II, of Hampshire, Illinois, passed away on July 18th, 2026 at the age of 58.

Roger was born on October 12th, 1967 in Orlando, Florida. After graduating from Northglenn High School, Roger served 6 years in the United States Air Force. It was during his time in the military that he began receiving letters from a friend of his cousin, Jennifer Stankevitz. Those letters would prove to be the foundation for a 40-year relationship. Roger and Jennifer were married on June 21, 1992 and celebrated 34 years of marriage earlier this summer. Their love was fruitful and gave them many blessings through their (more than) handful of children.

Roger was a generous man who poured all of himself into every activity, especially those where his children took the lead. From baseball, soccer, softball, gymnastics, Boy Scouts, theater, Disney trips with family, and countless other activities, Roger was an ever present father with a talent for diving fully into everything he did. In addition to his tenacious love for his family, Roger was a deeply faithful man who loved God and lived every day in a godly way.

An avid reader and writer, Roger loved to spend his recharge time relaxing with an audiobook and contemplating ideas for writing competitions. He loved building big fires, stimulating conversation, and making sure every person in any room felt included and comfortable.

If you knew Roger, you know he was impossible to miss. He had a signature style of his bright and colorful Hawaiian shirts and many fun pairs of Crocs that he wore with pride and joy. His smile was contagious, his laughter infectious, and his joy genuine. Roger had an incredible gift for seeing people. Even in life's hardest moments, Roger had a way of making us laugh when we thought there was nothing left to laugh about. He made people feel seen, loved, and valued, and that is a gift that will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer; his 7 beautiful children, Andrew (Anna), Benjamin (Caroline), Jessica (Spencer), Kaitlynn (Christian) Tran, Margaret (Jeffrey), Daniel, and Timothy; and his 2 granddaughters, Eloise and Eleanor. He is also survived by his parents, Roger and Alicemarie Miller; his 2 brothers, Michael and Jeffrey (Megan); his parents-in-law, William (Patricia) Stankevitz; his 2 brothers-in-law, Geoffrey (Jennifer) Stankevitz and Benjamin (Dana) Stankevitz and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents, John (Alice) Kaesik and Albert (Dorris) Miller.
