Obituary

Roberta "Bobbye" Faye Filippello, 68, of Genoa died Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at Northwestern Kishwaukee Hospital in Dekalb.

She was born February 22, 1953 in Detroit, Michigan to William and Geraldine (Bennetts) Moores.

Bobbye spent years in various capacities working at her dad's construction company.  Later, she became interested in the retail industry and worked at Kohl's and Sears.  She also worked at Michael's for many years and was promoted to assistant manager.

She was a jack of all trades.  She had a love for the outdoors that she shared with her children by camping and fishing with them.  Her son, Joe, built her a standing garden so she could grow her own vegetables.  She was so proud of it that she sent pictures to everyone.  Her whole life revolved around her children and granddaughter.  Being with her children was of the utmost importance to her.

Her fondness for animals showed as she would sit in the backyard with the dogs, Banjo and Bullet, and birdwatch- admiring cardinals and hawks. She was also enthusiastic about old cars such as the Pontiac GTO, and enjoyed watching the Meacham Auto Auction.  Her favorite TV shows were anything related to ghost paranormal activity and crime investigations.  Her favorite sports team was the Detroit Lions and would wear their jersey when watching their games.  She was very proud of her hometown team.

Anyone who knew Bobbye knew how she loved her Pepsi.  She would always sit and talk to you with a glass full of ice cold Pepsi.  She was quick-witted and always looked at the humorous side of everything.  Her responses were priceless.  Her infectious laugh would light up a room.

Our fondest memories are of her hosting parties and dinners for family and friends. She always prepared the most magnificent meals for every occasion. She was the best host and made everyone feel at home.

You could always count on her whenever you needed to talk or get advice.  We will always remember and cherish her words of wisdom.

Bobbye will be lovingly remembered by her mother Geraldine "Faye" Gervasio, her children Ross Scoma, Robert Scoma (Melodie), Joe Filippello, Tonilyn Filippello, her granddaughter, Lindsay Scoma, her sister Wendy Grosshauser, her brother Lucio Gervasio, her nieces Eliza Grosshauser and Carissa Grosshauser and her nephew William Grosshauser.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Leonard Gervasio, and her brother, William Moores.
