Robert "Bob" W. Rogers' Obituary
Robert W. "Bob" Rogers died January 30, 2023 at his home in DeKalb, IL. after a long illness.
He was born on December 15, 1962 at the Sycamore Hospital. He was the son of Wardneigh "Ward" and Helen (Westfield) Rogers. Bob united in marriage on September 5, 1987 to Julie Kohler at St. Peter and Paul Church in Virgil. From there they spent 35 years together and made their home in DeKalb.
Bob went to Sycamore Schools- Southeast Grade School, the Sycamore Middle School and graduated from the Sycamore High School, Class of 1981. He went on to Kishwaukee College and got a certificate in MIG and TIG welding.
Bob was a welder and fabricator by trade. He loved sports, the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, College football and basketball.
Survivors include his wife, Julie; one daughter, Emily (John) Baker of MN; his mother-in-law, Joanne Kohler of CO; three brothers, John (Diane) Rogers, Ron (Carol) Rogers and Bruce Rogers; his sister, Eileen (Rodney) Long; four brothers-in-law, Joe (Ellen) Kohler of WI, James (Joy) Kohler, Garry (Angela) Kohler and Gregg (Kimberly) Kohler; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ward and Helen Rogers; father-in-law, George "Bud" Kohler; his aunt, Mary Westfield; nephew, Sgt. Christopher Long and great niece, Lily Rogers.
His visitation will be on Friday, Feb. 3rd from 5:00-8:00 PM at Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore. A wake service will be recited at 7:30 PM.
His funeral mass will be on Saturday, Feb. 4th at 10:00 AM at the Newman Catholic- Christ the Teacher University Parish, 512 Normal Road, DeKalb, IL. A visitation will be prior to the mass from 9:30-10:00 AM at the Church.
Burial will be at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore.
