Robert Lee Sirovy, 87, went to be with the Lord on March 30, 2026.

He was born in Chicago, IL to George Sirovy and Juanita (Collins) Sirovy on December 19, 1938. The fifth of their seven children.

He was raised in Addison, IL and attended Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, IL. Throughout his childhood he was an active parishioner of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Addison, IL and while growing up he helped tend local farms in the Addison area and updated electrical service in the old farmhouses.

He left Addison for Chicago and attended night school to become a machinist. It was during this time he met Kay. They got married in August 1962. After ten years in Chicago they moved to Glen Ellyn, IL where they raised their three daughters Kathy, Carol, and Lori. He was a devoted and proud father to his girls. Attending many functions for his daughters including daddy-daughter dances, bowling tournaments, sold more candy bars than anyone for the school, homework helper, roller skating functions, and taught them to swim and ice skate.

Robert was a machinist for Binks Manufacturing Company for some time before moving up at Binks to develop spray gun systems. He had two patents for his work. After 39 years at Binks, he worked for DeVry University in Addison, for 19 years before he retired.

He had a special interest in gardening and spoke often of his garden, he tended at a young age. He raised vegetables and sunflowers throughout his lifetime, and he was never afraid to get his hands in the dirt. He was proud to give gardening advice to his daughter Kathy.

He took his family to Canada for fishing trips and he loved to build things, including home renovation projects and even built his own boat.

If there was a Bears game on, he would be watching the game with his daughter Carol or his grandsons.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Kay; three daughters, Kathy, Carol, and Lori; his five grandchildren, Natalie, David, Michael, Matthew, and Andrew; his three great-grandchildren; half-brother, Edward; brothers-in-law, Robert and Ray; sister-in-law, Ginger; several nieces, nephews, and friends.

Robert was predeceased by his parents; all six siblings, George, Marilyn, James, Fredrick, Wanda, and Victor; and his loving cousin, Carol.

His visitation will be on Tuesday, April 7, from Noon – 1:00 PM, at Slater-Butala Funeral home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL 60135. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Kevin Peterson of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Addison, IL. Burial will follow at the North Kingston Cemetery.
