Robert Gerard O'Loughlin, 52, of Kingston died January 13, 2022 at his home.

He was born June 16, 1969 in Cambridge, MA. to Paul and Lillian (Keefe) O'Loughlin.  He married Laura (Jellis) Powers on September 30, 2005.

Rob was employed with Nicor Gas Company for over 20 years. His most recent position was in asset protection, where he would oversee work being done around high pressure gas mains .

Rob enjoyed the simple things in life-spending time with his family, friends. He was also one to tackle projects big and small, and even home remodeling projects. Camping and traveling to different places and seeing new things with his family were his favorite past times. He loved being out in God's beautiful creation: exploring mountains, relaxing in the fresh air, seeing wildlife, hiking.  Rob enjoyed learning the history behind places visited, famous entrepreneurs, historical figures. When he wasn't traveling he would watch the DIY and history channel and he would always lend a helping hand to others.

Survivors include his wife: Laura Elizabeth O'Loughlin; children: Connor Michael O'Loughlin and Kate Elizabeth O'Loughlin; stepchildren: Sarah Lane (Powers) Jacob Powers, and Amanda Powers;  siblings: Maureen McGee (Timothy McGee), Claire Fields( Bob Fields),  Susan Snyder  (Tommy Snyder),  Kevin O'Loughlin (Michelle O'Loughlin) and Paul G. O'Loughlin;  and numerous nieces and nephews;  his parents: Paul Michael O'Loughlin and Lillian Ann O'Loughlin.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his sister-in-law, Astrid O'Loughlin.

His memorial visitation will be on Saturday, January 29th from 2:00-5:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.

A memorial has been established for Rob's wife and children in care of the Butala Funeral Home of Sycamore.
