Robert "Bob" Eugene Highstreet, age 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9th, 2026, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital with his family by his side. Bob was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great‑grandfather, and a steady anchor for all who knew him.

Born on June 3rd, 1944, in Rochelle, Illinois, Bob was the son of Roland Eugene Highstreet and Maxine White. He graduated from Rochelle High School before proudly serving in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Boxer. While serving, he continued his education and became an electrician—skills he carried throughout his life.

After returning home, Bob met his first wife, Anne Logan, and together they shared two children, Patricia (George) Diedrich and Robert Jason (Stormy) Highstreet.

Bob worked at Spaulding Plastic Composites for 37 years, where his reliability and strong work ethic were deeply valued. He was also a proud and active member of the DeKalb Moose Lodge, where he served as Governor and was known for his steady presence and willingness to help wherever needed.

During his years at the Moose, Bob met his second wife, Dawn Hoskinson. They married in 1996 and recently celebrated 30 years of marriage, building a life filled with partnership, laughter, and deep devotion.

Bob was a man of few words but immeasurable strength. He spoke softly but lived powerfully, choosing to let his actions speak for him. Exceptionally gifted with his hands, he was the ultimate guide for his children—always ready to help fix, build, or troubleshoot anything they brought his way. Through patient teaching and hands‑on wisdom, he didn't just solve problems; he taught his family how to be resourceful, capable, and strong.

As a stepfather to Dawn's young children—Anissa, Aaron, and Amber, Bob helped raise them with the same steady guidance and hands‑on wisdom. His quiet strength shaped them into who they are today. He was their rock—never loud, but always strong enough to carry them through any storm.

Bob found joy in simple, meaningful things: his dogs, especially Duke, his beloved White American German Shepherd; watching westerns on repeat; camping; and fishing. Duke remained his loyal companion for many years, and in a final tribute to their bond, Bob and Duke's ashes will be buried together, sharing their resting place just as they shared their days.

He left behind a legacy of quiet strength, hard work and dedication.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Dawn Highstreet; his children Patricia (George) Diedrich, Robert Jason (Stormy) Highstreet, Aaron (Nichole) Hoskinson, and Amber (David) Kelm; his sister Joyce Maronde; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great‑grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roland and Maxine, first wife, Anne Logan and his daughter, Anissa Bumgarner.

The family will hold a private ceremony to honor the incredible man they all loved.
