Richard H. Liebke, Jr., 83, long-time resident of Hanover Park, IL. died on February 8,  2026 at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

He was born on October 26, 1942 in Franklin Park, IL. to Richard and Lillian (Murray Liebke, Sr.  He married the love of his life and his high school sweetheart Barbara Harty on May 9, 1964.  They were married for 57 years.

Richard was a tool and die maker for many years.  He was active with the Cub and Boy Scouts. He  served as a leader and was the commissioner for several years.

Richard was a parishioner of St. Mary's Church in DeKalb, IL.  Those who knew him could find him in one of three  places- fishing by a lake, managing his extensive train collection (especially Lionel trains) or cheering on the White Sox- which he will never forget that they won the World Series on his birthday!  He enjoyed all types of music- his favorites were Tina Turner and Peter Frampton. His family was his greatest pride and he cherished every moment with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Tracy (Joe) Hengels and Richard (Chris) H. Liebke, III; his grandchildren, Megan (Danny), Jacob (Alexis) and Shannon (Gary); 4 great grandchildren, Logan, Rhea, Theo and William and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara and sister, Kathleen Bachus.

His visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 12th from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.   His funeral service will begin at 11:00 AM with Fr. James Linkenheld officiating.

Burial will follow at the St. Adalbert Cemetery, 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles, IL.
