Richard was a hard-working mechanic for Waste Management, retiring after many years of service.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cutting the grass on his "Deer", drinking his beer and complaining how we don't do things right.  He was a 5 year Merkel cell cancer survivor, which surprised all his doctors- due to it spreading to his liver.  He was one of the first immunotherapy patients for the new drug.  After all of his strong will to survive and beat the cancer, he received the Covid vaccine (first shot) and then respiratory complications arose and he fought until his last breath-  but could not beat it.

Survivors include his children; grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and 2 sons, Rick Lane and Ron Lane.

A Celebration of Life for Richard and Joan will be on Sunday, October 3rd from 1:00-7:00 PM at the Cortland Lions Club, 70 S. Llanos Street,  Cortland, IL.
