Richard W. Hyde, Jr., 69, of DeKalb died Friday, January 15, 2021 at NW Medicine- Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.

He was born December 22, 1951 in Sycamore to Richard W. Hyde Sr. and Margueritte (Mattingly).

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps which included one tour of the Vietnam War. He was given an honarable discharge in December of 1974 at the rank of Corporal with a rifleman specialty. By the end of his service, he had recieved the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Sharpshooter Rifle Badge.

Richard was an avid watcher of professional wrestling, football, and NASCAR. A lifelong fan of the Chicago Bears and Dale Earnhardt, Richard also enjoyed listening to music from the 1960s and 70s, especially The Beatles as well as the solo careers of John Lennon and Eric Clapton. Richard's main concern in life though was his family and caring for them until his passing.

His is survived by his wife of over 40 years Linda; his three children Eric (Rachel) Hyde of Sycamore, Kevin Hyde of DeKalb, and Toni Erwin of Genoa; his six siblings, Peggy (Wendel) Mattis, Linda Whitmer, Dorothy Jensen, Mary Eberly, Martha (Nick) Villagomez, and Jerry (Terry) Hyde; his granddaughter Rebecca Hyde of Sycamore as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Sr. and Margueritte.

His Celebration of Life and burial will be held at a later date.  Arrangements were completed by the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory of Sycamore.
