Richard Dix Korleski, age 94, of Sycamore, Illinois, passed away on August 8th 2023.
He was born on July 27, 1929, in Wild Rose, Wisconsin the son of Charles and Hilda Korleski.
Dick is survived by his 5 children, Mark (Kim), Jennifer Collins (Randy), Jeffrey (Nancy Hannafin), Cynthia Steir and Christopher; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Genard, Ryan Collins, Alex Collins, Kathryn Korleski, Clare Korleski, Aaron Korleski and 6 great grandchildren; Hayden Genard, Gray Genard, Margot Genard, Harper Collins, Emerson Collins & Lincoln Collins and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose, his parents, his brothers Chuck & Vernon and sister Rosalie.
After graduating from Sycamore High School in 1948 Dick enlisted in the U.S Navy during the Korean War. He served until 1952 as a Petty Officer, 1st class in aviation ordinance. He flew bomber missions in a P2V Neptune twin engine plane. He loved serving his country and later sharing stories of his time in the Navy.
Dick was employed by Anaconda Wire and cable CO for over 30 years. He then worked in landscaping at NIU.
On August 9, 1952 Dick married the love of his life Rose Marie Gray and they were married for 61 yrs. His many hobbies include hunting and fishing, snow skiing, tinkering in his workshop, reading, gardening, and decorating their home for all the holidays. He loved entertaining family and his many lifelong friends.
Dick's visitation will be from 9:30-10:30am and a funeral mass will follow at 10:30am on Monday, August 14, at the Church of St. Mary, 322 Waterman St., Sycamore, IL. Burial will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Sycamore, IL.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Church of St. Mary.
