Raymond H. Hess, 91, of Genoa, IL died January 4, 2024 at Aperion Nursing Home in DeKalb.

He was born on August 24, 1932 in Edwardsville, IL.   He married Janet L. Halter on December 29, 1955 in Jerseyville.

Raymond was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served as the Commander of the New Douglas VFW.   Raymond was a very hard worker.  He was a dairy farmer and later worked in sales.

Survivors include his children, Randall (Sandie) Hess and Stacey Hess; grandchildren, Brandon (Meghan) Hess and Leilani Hess; two sisters-in-law, Jean Halter and Joann (Harold) Koenig; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet; his grandson, Anthony Joseph; and his sister.

His visitation will be on Thursday, January 11th  from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135.

A graveside service and military honors will be on Tuesday, January 16th at 11:00 AM at the St. Catherine Cemetery in Genoa, IL.
