Raymond Kennedy Hambaugh, Jr., 81, of DeKalb, IL died on April 5, 2025 at the DeKalb Co. Rehab and Nursing Center.

He was born on February 24, 1944 in Brockton, MA to Lt. Col. (LTC) Raymond K. Hambaugh, Sr., and Dorothea E. (Oberg) Hambaugh.  He married Arlene Joan Schmidt on August 23, 1969.

Raymond attended American Military High Schools (Heidelberg & Munich), Wilmington High School, Northern Illinois University and Northern Illinois University graduate school, where he received his Bachelor's and Master's degrees.

He was employed as a Senior Manager for the U.S.Treasury Department in Chicago.  He lived in Naperville, IL for 34 years and moved to DeKalb, IL in 2007.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in DeKalb and very involved with the Boy Scouts of America while in Naperville.

Survivors include his children, Scott R. Hambaugh (Gilbert Arcilla Jr.); Christine  E. de Rama (Chris de Rama) and Jennifer L. Hambaugh; his grandson, Tyler R. de Rama; and great granddaughter, Evie de Rama.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LTC Raymond K. Hambaugh, Sr. and Dorothea Hambaugh; and his wife, Arlene.

His visitation will be on Wednesday, April 9th from 11:00 am- 12:00 pm at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL.  Burial will follow at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
