Randy Lynn McCoy, 70, of Genoa, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday, July 7th, 2024.

He was born June 12th, 1954 in Knoxville, TN to Junior Bob McCoy and Joyce (Carter) McCoy. As a baby, they moved to Kirkland and later to Genoa where Randy graduated Genoa-Kingston High School in 1971. He married Lois Simmons in Kingston on June 17th, 1972.

Randy followed in the footsteps of his father Junior and cousin Charlie Ray and started racing stock cars in 1976. Over the years, Randy held many jobs but found his knack in concrete construction. For many years, he primarily worked alongside his dear friend John Ness. In 1978, Randy found his passion in preaching the gospel and became an ordained minister in 1982. From there, he and his wife went on to evangelize in many churches and officiated numerous weddings and funerals. He did so many that he would say he either "married ya" or "buried ya".

Randy's family was his pride and joy and was a great protector of them. He always looked forward to spending time with his kids, grandkids and grand dogs. He loved Genoa and knew the history by the back of his hand. He cherished the many friendships he made over the years. He was always willing to give a helping hand and enjoyed reminiscing the "good ole" days, telling jokes and pulling pranks. He enjoyed tinkering on cars and lawn mowers, building things, and going to stock car races. You could often find him sitting in his driveway listening to music and waving to people as they drove by.

Randy's family would like to thank Aperion Care, Compassus Hospice Care, and the many healthcare professionals that provided loving care to Randy. He made many friends and always had them laughing. Special thanks to Butala Funeral Home and Crosswind Community Church for their tremendous support during this difficult time.

Randy is survived by his wife of 52 years Lois McCoy; his 3 children Jimmy (Nikki) McCoy, Kevin (Jane) McCoy, and Ammie McCoy (fiancé Jeff Sebastian). 7 grandchildren Douglas Wallin, Zackary McCoy, Alyssa McCoy, Amanda McCoy, Drake Hartzell, Courtney McCoy, and Emma Hartzell. 3 Grand dogs Kaia, Abby, and Piper. His brother Bob (Kathy) McCoy, sister Gina Gallamore, and his cousin Mary Sally Nelson; along with many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his dad Junior Bob McCoy, his mother Joyce (Carter/McCoy) Gallamore, his brother Rodger McCoy and his grandson Daniel Hartzell.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, July 20th at Crosswind Community Church 13100 Cherry Rd, Genoa, IL. Visitation starting at 11am with services beginning at 12:00pm. Fellowship and lunch will be served after till 3pm. Grave site burial will be at a later date at Kingston.
