Phyllis Dean Holt, 92, of Genoa died January 4, 2025 peacefully at her home.

She was born on June 7, 1932 in Big Stone Gap, VA to James R. and Virgie M. (Chandler) Wells.  She married Raymond "Shorty" Holt, December 26, 1952 in Gate City, VA.

Phyllis worked in food services at AG Communications in Genoa and later at Northern Illinois University's Pheasant Room until she retired in 1996.

She was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church in Genoa, IL.

Phyllis selflessly gave herself and her time to raising children. From siblings, her three children, nieces and nephews, to grandchildren, great grandchildren and many more. She was the proud Matriarch of 5 generations of woman. She loved entertaining at her home, spending time with her family, friends and singing with her seven siblings.

She is survived by two children, Gary Holt of Kingston, IL, and Teresa (Kevin) Brandt, of Genoa, IL. Six grandchildren, Julie (Dennis) Russo of Bloomington, IL; April (Jason) Mannis of Sycamore, IL; Ashley (Dan) Lichthardt of Sycamore, IL; Rachel (Anthony) Bock of Belvidere, IL; Valerie Malone of Rochelle, IL; and Deanna (Quinten) Ebel of Belvidere, IL. Seventeen great grandchildren, one great-great granddaughter, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond "Shorty" Holt, son, Steve "Jammer" Holt, parents and seven siblings.

Her visitation will be on Saturday, January 11th from 10:00 AM - 1:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore.  Her funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM.  Burial will be at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
