Penny Sue Bennett, 61, of Genoa died February 19, 2024 at Generations at Neighbors in Byron.

She was born on August 28, 1962.  She was the daughter of Milton R. and Jacqueline (Mason) Bennett.

Penny graduated from the Genoa Kingston school system.

She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan-  and she would call her family and ask them to listen to her 2 birds that she loved- as they chattered when the Cubs were losing. She also enjoyed going to the movies at the Sycamore Theater with her friends, attending dances at Opportunity House, coloring, participating in Special Olympics when she was young, loved children and would babysit for many families in Genoa and would have fun razzling the Genoa Police Officers.

She worked as a Crossing Guard in Genoa for over 26 years and received a letter of Special Appreciation for her dedication.

Survivors include her mother, Jackie Bennett; her brother, Scott Bennett; and several Aunts and Uncles and many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Bennett.

Her visitation will be on Thursday, Feb. 22 from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Crosswind Community Church, 13100 Cherry Road, Genoa, IL. with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM with Pastor Gary Roca officiating.

A luncheon will follow the service at the Church.   Burial will take place after the lunch at the Genoa Cemetery.
