Obituary

Paul Christensen, 66, of Genoa, IL died on January 4, 2026 at NW Medicine- Kishwaukee Hospital.

He was born on June 15, 1959 in Chicago to Harold and Gloria (Bennett) Christensen.

Paul lived a life built on hard work, steady hands, and a deep love for the land and his family.

For much of his life, Paul was a farmer and construction business owner — roles he carried with pride and dedication. Early in his career, he especially loved being a dairy farmer, caring for his animals and working the rhythms of the farm each day. As his work evolved, Paul spent countless hours behind the wheel of a semi-truck, traveling the back roads of Northern Illinois, moving between farm fields and gravel pits.

Paul logged thousands of hours operating tractors, skid loaders, excavators, and loaders — machines that became extensions of his hands. He was known for his strong work ethic, his reliability, and his quiet competence.

Beyond his work, Paul had a special place in his heart for his Blue Heeler dogs, whose loyalty and energy matched his own spirit. Most of all, he loved his three children — Shelly, Shannon, and Dan — who were the greatest joy and pride of his life.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.

Survivors include his children Shelly (Jason) Rapp, Daniel (Renee) Christensen, Shannon (Sean) Benim, grandchildren Bennett and Grayson Rapp, and Alice and Owen Christensen, his brother, Carl Christensen, and his best friend, Bonnie Carr.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Donnamarie, his mother, Gloria Christensen, and his father, Harold Christensen.

His memorial visitation will be on Saturday, January 10th from 2:00-4:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135.
