Patricia A. Smith, 72, of DeKalb passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL.

She was born on December 7, 1948 in Kankakee, IL. to Wilbert and Yvonne Hanen.

Patricia was retired after many years in Retail Management.

Patricia loved playing Bingo which meant she could be found almost every Wednesday at the sycamore vets club for their bingo night. She also loved to get together with friends and family to play cards games and dice. She liked doing word search puzzles and Sudoku. She also had a huge love for Elvis Presley. Her favorite type of music was Oldies.

One of her son's last fond memories with his mother was teaching her how to play the board game Ticket to Ride.

One of her daughter's fond memories with her mother was seeing the look on her face when she and Patricia's oldest granddaughter drove up from Georgia and surprised her with a visit. It was a great time of visiting and lunch with family.

Patricia had a huge heart and touched so many lives. Her kind spirit and loving personality will be greatly missed. She will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

Patricia is survived by her brother Edward (Nancy) Hanen of Florida, and her niece Kelly Fisher. Patricia was also survived by her two children, daughter Rene' (Ronald) Ireland of Covington, GA, and son Patrick (Dannyelle) Smith of Sycamore, IL. She also had four grandchildren: Jalissa (Ryan) Kori of Covington, GA, Devon Ireland of Athens, GA, Kimberly (Matt) McCue of Sycamore, IL and Kaylee Smith of Sycamore, IL. She also had one great grandson Kolton Kori.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her nephew David Hanen.

Private family gatherings will be enjoyed in honor of memorializing and celebrating her life.
