Patricia L. Racine, 60, of Dekalb, IL died peacefully September 11, 2022 at Delnor Hospital, in Geneva, surrounded by loving family following a long-term illness.

She was born on September 5, 1962 in Sacramento, CA to Norman and Diana (Flynn) Racine, and the family including sister Leslie, relocated to Sycamore, IL later that year.

Patty grew up in Sycamore and attended Southeast Elementary School and Sycamore Junior High before graduating from Sycamore High School in 1980.  She then attended Indiana University, majoring in Social Work.

Patty had a hard work ethic, and after studying at IU, she worked in restaurant service and in retail sales and managerial roles including at Jewel/Osco and Goodwill. She was very proud of her customer service and organization skills.

Patty was a strong competitive swimmer into her teenage years and a member of the SHS pom-pom squad. She was an avid reader, and she was very knowledgeable about sports, especially the NFL. She was a great cook, and she enjoyed comedy, music and movies.

Those who knew and loved Patty will miss her warm smile and boisterous laugh, her intelligence, curiosity, keen memory, quick wit and wry sense of humor. She had a knack for fixing things around the house and diagnosing auto and equipment issues.  She enjoyed fashion, wearing hats, and finding great deals.

Survivors include her parents, Norman Racine, St. Charles, IL, and Diana Racine, Sycamore, IL; her son, Wesley (Lindsy) Serrato, Miami, FL; and her sisters, Leslie (Chris) Husa, La Cañada, CA, Mary (David) Richardson, Bartlett, IL, and Miki (Christopher) Berardelli, Montclair, NJ. Her family also includes nieces, Carolyn (Paul) Husa-Marchetti, Katie (Alex) Campbell, Mallory and Hannah Richardson; nephews, Ian and CJ Richardson, Max and Vic Berardelli; granddaughter, Savannah Serrato, and grandniece, Juliette Husa-Marchetti.

The family will hold a private memorial service. Public visitation hours will be held on Sunday, October 2, 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm, at Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore IL.
