Patricia M. Botts, 82, of Genoa died January 4, 2024 at NW Medicine-Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb, IL.

She was born on August 11, 1941 in Capron, IL to John and Nancy (Coates) Gruel.  She married Donald Botts on August 6, 1958.

Pat worked for AG Communications in Genoa and retired after 30 years of service.  After her retirement, she worked as a lunch lady for the DeKalb School District.

Pat loved her two dogs and was a dog breeder and trainer throughout her life.  She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her sons, Don (Sandy) Botts and Robert (Bethany) Botts; daughter/niece, Ann Rood; son/nephew, Michael (Edith) Ballard; her grandchildren, Cathy Sauceman, Janna Merema, Michelle Botts, Christopher Botts, Zachary Botts, Kylie Botts, Casey Botts, Andra Elk, Ryan Rood, Joshua Ballard and Caitlyn Ballard; numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; one sister, Barbara Hathcock; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three siblings, Helen Roberts, Diane Munson and Robert Gruel.

Her visitation will be on Sunday, January 7th from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main St., Genoa, IL. 60135.  It will also be on Monday, January 8th from  12:00-1:00 PM at the funeral home with a graveside service to begin at 1:30 PM at the Genoa Cemetery.
