Milton Westlake, 92, formerly of Sycamore passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at the LaSalle Veterans Home in LaSalle IL.
He was born October 22, 1929 in Sycamore to Earle & Dorothy (King) Westlake. Milton was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Milton was a hardworking successful businessman. He owned & operated the Westlake's Truck Stop/Restaurant & Dari Ripple on Route 64 in Sycamore. He went on to work in automobile & truck sales. He became a well known & respected salesman at State Street Motors in Sycamore & Bill Jacobs Chevrolet in Joliet. He ended his 25+ year career at Bill Walsh Chevrolet in Ottawa.
After retiring, he started a hobby of gardening to stay busy. His small garden eventually grew into a fulltime job. He & his daughter Angela partnered the business & grew from a vegetable stand at the end of his driveway in Norway, Illinois into Farmer's Market's at several central & northern IL counties. Milt made many friends & grew a large clientele of returning customers. In fact, he was so well known for his asparagus, he had local restaurants buying to serve at their restaurants.
He is survived by a loving family; his children Gary (Barb) Westlake, Merritt (Olga) Westlake, Jennifer (Allen) Jones, Stephanie (Mark) Olson, Angela (Dave) Heatter, his step children Kim Wiemer, Brenda (Tom) Jergens, 22 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren & 3 great-great grandchildren, brother; Melvin Westlake & several nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son; Russell Westlake; brother Orville Westlake, sisters Marge Mowers & Julie Dawson; step son Brian Bowman; step grandson Kurt Hudson; step granddaughters Kassandra & Sarrah Fannon & Desirae Bowman.

His Memorial Visitation will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore IL. The service will begin at 11:00 AM with Rev. Rich Fassig from the Norway Methodist Church, Norway, IL. officiating.
A luncheon will follow at the Sycamore VFW, 121 S. California St., Sycamore, IL.
A private family graveside service will be at the Charter Grove Cemetery in rural Sycamore with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sycamore Veterans Home in care of the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL. 60178.
