Michelle L. Orstead, 54, died on February 10, 2026.  Known for being very kind, caring and had a life filled with passion and love for her pups, Ozzy, Kamatz and Zoey.

She was born on June 9, 1971 in Aurora, IL. to Sidney and Sheila (Westphal) Orstead.

Michelle is survived by her sister, Meredith Orstead (Rodney Buehler) of DeKalb and Rodney Simpkins, her high school soul mate, husband of many years, and caring friend until the end.

In her younger years, Michelle did some modeling, waitressing and loved being a hairstylist.  She was very creative and detailed with writing beautiful poems.

She was enrolled in veterinary technician courses for a short time. She had so much love of learning about all animals.

Michelle was a true rock music fan, including metal and enjoyed going to concerts and meeting her favorite band members.

Most of all, she loved being with her sister, her (Mer Bear) doing simple things like shopping and dining together.

She carried a sense of humor until the end and made light of any situation. There is no other friend better than a sister, and there is no better sister than you.  Rest easy Shell Bell.  You're my guardian angel.
