Michael L. Shered, age 69, died Sunday May 4th, 2025 at his home with his family present.

Michael was born on December 14th, 1955 in Chicago, Illinois. He married the love of his life Tammie M. Shered of Sycamore, Illinois on May 22nd, 1976 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a building service worker known and respected for his tireless work ethic until he retired from Northern Illinois University in 2009.

A devoted fan of science fiction and avid collector of comic books Michael had a love for stories that transcended galaxies & tales of heroes, villains, and everything in between. As a music enthusiast/vinyl collector he developed a passion for music that would span across man genres.

Michael is survived by his wife, Tammie; three children: Kisha M. Shered, Monique S. (Shered) Shaw, and Jason Michael Shered; his five grandchildren: Alim Menelek Shah, Assata Nasira Shah, Ahmad Rasul Shah, Teo Michael Scott Faber, and Mars Valentina Shered; his siblings, Shirley Woodson, Hattie Teagus (Frank), Alice Pringle (Larry), Jackie Shered, Aloise Davenport (Chris) and a host of other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Selena (Shered) Hackman, brothers Sam Shered, Robert Sherrod, Danny Shered, Tommy Shered, and granddaughter Mora S. Shah.

His visitation will be on Friday, May 23rd from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore.  A memorial service will be on Saturday, May 24th at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home.
