Michael Kent Barkey, 58, of Sycamore, IL. died on September 20, 2026 peacefully at his sister's home.

He was born April 25, 1968 in Chicago, IL. to Lowell Kent and Sally J. (Horan) Barkey.

Michael loved music. From Frank Sinatra to the hottest band in the world….KISS!! He loved planting outdoors and plants indoors. He had a true green thumb. Michael loved Halloween, but said to his sister recently, I know everyone thinks Halloween is my favorite holiday, but really it’s Christmas. 

Michael was a very devout Catholic and 4th degree knight. Growing up he was the BEST alter server ever!! 

Survivors include his daughters Alexandra Barkey and Cassandra (Brad) Heron, his mother Sally Barkey, sister Lora (Jeff) Jendrzejczyk, many grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by- wife Toni L. Barkey, father Lowell Kent Barkey, and In-laws Chuck and Norma Brinkley.

His Funeral Mass will be on Friday, September 25th at 10:30 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 244 Waterman St., Sycamore, IL.

Burial will follow the Mass at Mount Carmel Cemetery,1100 West State Street, Sycamore IL.

A luncheon will follow at the St. Mary Parish Activity Center in Sycamore.
