Merita Hunt, 49, of DeKalb died on October 18, 2023 at her home.

She was born on May 31, 1974 in Chicago Heights to Thomas Hunt and Merita (Kent) Wieser.

Merita is survived by her mother, Merita Wieser; sister, Meriva (Leon) Krueger; brother, Thomas Hunt, Jr.; half brothers, Adam (Breanna) Blade and Zane Blade;  5 aunts, Mary (Dave) Little, Helen Kent, Sarah (Sanjay) Dhall, Karen Kent and Marie Hunt; three nephews, Angelo Nieft, Zachariah Clow and Thomas Blade; niece, Salome Nieft; one great niece; two great nephews and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Hunt; and her sister, Angela Hunt-Nieft.

Her visitation will be on Saturday, October 28th from 3:00-5:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home in Sycamore, IL.

Burial will be at the Masonic and Odd Fellows Cemetery in Benton, IL. on November 1st.
