Melvin L. Drendel, 84, of Kingston died February 7, 2026 unexpectedly but peacefully at his home.

He was born on August 19, 1941 in Kingston to Albert and Mary (Listy) Drendel. He married Susan J. Kush on February 27, 1965.

Melvin worked at AG Communication Systems in Genoa for 43 years and continued his work on the same property for Custom Aluminum Products. He retired after many years of dedicated service.

In his younger years, Melvin was passionate about muscle cars, and this enjoyment continued throughout his life. Later in life, his heart was most content on his farm, nurturing and feeding the wild birds. He was a true outdoorsman, and found peace in hunting, fishing and camping. A genuine John Deere enthusiast, he could often be found working on and operating his tractors with pride. He will be remembered for his joy in the simple things, tirelessly tending to his land and his devotion to family.

Survivors include his wife, Susie; two sons, Brian Drendel and Adam (Jennifer) Drendel; and four grandchildren, Eric, Stephanie, Kaitlyn and Adalyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

His visitation will be on Saturday, February 14th from 9:30-10:30 AM at St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic Church, 240 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL. His funeral mass will begin at 10:30 AM with Rev. Jeremy Trowbridge officiating.

Burial will immediately follow the mass at the St. Catherine Cemetery.

A luncheon will then be served at the Church reception hall.
