Obituary

Matthew Edward Kantola, 47, of Thayer, MO died on December 4, 2022 in Sycamore, IL.

He was born on August 14, 1975 in Aurora, IL.  He was the son of George Kantola and Kay Nolan.  He was married to Marcia Kantola.

Matthew went to school at East Aurora High School, graduating in 1994. He then graduated from the University of Missouri in 1998.
He was employed by the Grand Gulf State Park as a naturalist. Matthew enjoyed photography, model railroads, hiking and kayaking.
Survivors include daughters, Jordan and Brayden Kantola; his mother, Kay Nolan;  siblings, Dawn Losacco, Douglas Kantola and Brian Kantola.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Kantola and his wife, Marcia Kantola.
His memorial visitation will be at the First Presbyterian Church of Aurora, 325 E Downer Pl.,  Aurora, IL. 60505 on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.  All are invited to a luncheon after the service.
There will be another memorial mass at the Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, 3612 Best Circle Thayer, MO on Tuesday, December 13th, beginning at 4:00 PM.  Visitation following the mass from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at the church.
Please omit flowers.
Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 14th at 11:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in rural Montrose, MO.
