Obituary

Mary Rita Stevens Lampard Dittman, 95, of Genoa died July 29, 2023.


She was born October 3, 1927 in Virgil, IL. She was the daughter of John (Lonnie) and Mary Stevens.  She was one of six children.  Mary was the first member of her family to graduate from high school.  She married Clifford John Lampard on February 16, 1947 and they raised five children on the family farm.


She enjoyed working at the DeKalb DMV and as a secretary to the Genoa-Kingston High School principal.  She overcame challenges with the early death of Clifford in 1966 and the deaths of three sons.  She met and married Lawrence Dittman in 1982.  They enjoyed traveling together and took many bus trips throughout the U.S. until his passing in 1999.


She spent her later years crocheting numerous blankets for all members of her family.  She was an avid reader and enjoyed many afternoons playing cards with her friends.  She was an active member of the St. Catherine of Genoa Catholic Church

Mary is survived by her children, Carol Lampard of Chicago and Kent (Angie) Lampard of Genoa; daughter-in-law, Janette Lampard of Sycamore; grandchildren, Marcus (Sarah) Lampard of Genoa, Victoria (John) Lampard of Kingston, Mary (Mike) Bove of Arlington Heights, Alexander (Emily) Nelson of Lake Zurich and Elizabeth Nelson (Aaron Holmes) of Springfield; and 11 great grandchildren.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford in 1966; her husband, Lawrence in 1999; her sons, Jack in 1990, Russell in 2009 and Mark in 2022 and her grandson, Justin in 2022.


Her memorial visitation will be on Saturday, August 26th from 10:00 AM-11:00 AM at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL.   Her funeral mass will begin at 11:00 AM.  Burial will follow at the St. Catherine Cemetery, Genoa.
