Marlene Joy Petersen's Obituary
Marlene Joy Petersen, 89, of Genoa died Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 at the DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.
She was born on Dec. 20, 1932 in Ladysmith, WI to Fred and Marvel (Crandall) Meyers.
Survivors include her children, Cathy Shipley (Ken), Barbara Pearson, James Pearson (Sandy) and Cathy Petersen; grandchildren, Rachel Shipley, Julie Ratliff (Joe), Jolene O'Donnell (Ryan), John Shipley (Alyson), Jill Wiegel (Shelly), Jenna Franz (Joshua), Ashley Baker (James), Joy Ellen Holmes (Kevin) and Elizabeth Galati (Sal); great grandchildren, Jayna, Anna and Joseph Ratliff, Megan, Jason, Jacob and Caden O'Donnell, Harper and William Shipley, Laney, Alex and Finn Wiegel, Lucy and Ivy Franz, Peyton and Piper Baker, Axl, Ellison and Wyland Holmes, Serafina, Leonardo and Abigail Galati; and one sister, Pat Meyers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Duane Petersen in 2014 and her grandson, Jason Shipley in 1984.
A private family burial will take place at the Charter Grove Cemetery.
Arrangements were completed by the Slater-Butala Funeral Home, 132 W. Main, Genoa, IL 60135.
