Marjorie Roselle Lyons, 97, of Mayfield Township, DeKalb County died January 10, 2026 at home.

She was born in Rockford, Illinois to John and Wilma (nee Nicholson) Bolander on September 20, 1928.

A lifelong resident of Mayfield Township, she farmed with her husband for many years. Marjorie was a talented seamstress and designed and made her own couture wedding gown, and later clothes for herself and her children. She was a skilled decorator and took great delight in decorating the family home and assisted her late daughter Donna in operating an interior design store for several years. A natural organizer, she won first place in 4-H for her California Closet as a teenager. She loved oil painting and painted various farm scenes and floral still lifes.

As a teenager, she worked at Henderson's Department Store in Sycamore and became a full-time homemaker after marrying Clinton M Lyons on Sept. 20, 1950. Together they farmed and operated an electronic repair business. After her husband's death in 1982, she went back to work at Walmart and Honey Girl Dress Shop in DeKalb. She loved dogs, especially collies, and owned several throughout her life.

She was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of DeKalb.

Marjorie is survived by her children, David (Carol) Lyons of Sycamore; Dean (LaVerna) Lyons of Kingston; Dawn (Lee) Lyons-Dean of Plainwell, Michigan; Dell Lyons and his partner Aubrietta, both of DeKalb; her son-in-law, Steven Bukowski of Toledo, Ohio; her brother-in-law, Roger Oltman of Sycamore; five grandchildren, Lee (Meggan) Lyons, Lucas (Brigitte) Lyons, Deanna Piotrowski, Clinton Andrew Lyons, and Nolan (Kaylynn) Bukowski; two great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, her daughter, Donna Bukowski; her brother, Sherman Bolander; her sister, Joyce Oltman; her sister-in-law Doris Bolander; her nephew, Luke Oltman; several first cousins, including Milrae Reber and Alyce Spiering; her dear friend Ina Schultz; her beloved collie dogs Boots and Tessa, and her cherished cats Beautiful, Sanka, and Pepper.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15 at Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Avenue, Sycamore, Illinois immediately followed by funeral services. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore.
