Marietta Greenlee, aged 80, passed away January 9, 2023, in Dekalb, Illinois, surrounded by those she loved and who love her.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, to parents Benjamin Disabitino and Helen Purgatorio, Marietta was raised to be a strong and compassionate woman. She married her husband, Paul Thomas Greenlee Sr. on August 27, 1959, and together they raised three boys, Paul Thomas Greenlee Jr., Timothy Clayton Greenlee, and Welton Eugene Greenlee, through their 60 years of marriage.

Marietta was a good mother, wife, and daughter, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She meant much to those whose lives she touched over her 80 years, and the world is less bright without her in it. Marietta was the definition of a loving, kind, and generous woman, and her spirit and tenderness touched all those around her. The time her family and friends spent with Marietta will be cherished, as will the love and warmth she brought into our lives. Those who knew and loved her cannot express the joy Marietta brought into their lives nor the grief we now feel after her passing.

These last several years plagued Marietta with physical hardships, and it was her time to lay down her earthly burdens and return to Heavenly Father and His Son who have welcomed her home with outstretched arms where she will never feel the mortal sting of pain again. We love and will continue to love her deeply, and the ache of her passing will leave a mark on those who cared for her.

She is survived by her sons, Timothy (Patty) and Eugene (Stephanie), daughter-in-law, Jody Greenlee, sisters Bernadette Jenke, Georgette Tautz, Paulette Disabitino, and Lynette Speck (Ron), grandchildren, Lindsey (Casey), Clayton (Brittany), Jennifer, Joshua, Michael, Neriah, and Elexis, and her great-grandchildren, Mateo, Jaylee, Kelly, Remington, Talon, Brantley, and Zane.

Marietta was welcomed to her heavenly home by her husband, her son, Paul Greenlee Jr., parents Helen and Benjamin, sisters Jeanette Johnson and Annette Kalaf, and more than a dozen bulldogs.

Her visitation will be on Saturday, January 14th from 11:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Butala Funeral Home and Crematory of Sycamore.

Burial will be private.
