Margaret (Muggs) Swanson, 90

Born in DeKalb, IL in 1934 to John and Ellen (O'Malley) Minnihan. Formerly from DeKalb, Muggs passed away at the Jack & Engrid Meng Hospice Facility in Green Bay, WI on Wednesday April 17th 2024.

She attended Sycamore schools and graduated with the class of 1952. After graduating from high school she went to work at Ideal Industries where she met the love of her life Art Swanson. They married in 1956 and spent the next 36 happy years together until Art's death in 1992. After raising her family she went to work at DeKalb Feeds and worked their until her retirement.

The greatest joy in her life were her kids (Steve & Kim), grandchildren (Lance & Mallory) and great-grandchildren (Leighton & Leo). She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her children and grandchildren at their sporting events and also cheering on the Chicago Bears and Cubs. She also loved going out to eat with her extended family and friends. She volunteered at the Country Store for years and was a member of the Farm Bureau Prime Timers. She always had a smile on her face.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers – Bill, Bob, Joe, Chuck & Rich Minnihan, sister – Mary Chapman, and son-in-law Roger Diedrich.

Survived by son Steve (Joanne) Swanson of Laguna Niguel, CA, daughter Kim Diedrich of Green Bay, WI, Grandson Lance (Laura) Kaster of Green Bay, WI, Granddaughter Mallory (Ben) Greenwood of St. Paul, MN and great granddaughter and great grandson Leighton & Leo Kaster of Green Bay WI and several special nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all.

Her visitation will be at 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM on Friday, April 26th at the Butala Funeral Home, 1405 DeKalb Ave., Sycamore, IL, followed by a time for sharing memories  from 12:00 - 12:45 PM.

A graveside service will be at 1:00 PM at the Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore, IL.
