Margaret (Peggy) Mae Pedersen, 79, of Tampa FL and Sycamore IL, and formerly of South Saint Paul, MN passed away peacefully on March 9, 2020. She was born on December 17, 1940 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of Thomas and Virginia Steichen (Webster).
Peggy was a devoted mother raising five children before obtaining her Associate of Arts Degree from Hillsborough Community College . She worked several interesting jobs over the years including substitute teacher, manager of Young Editions, and a cashier before retiring . She loved bowling, playing cards, word search, watching her Tampa Bay Lightning and Rays, and visiting with friends and families. She was a rabid Notre Dame football fan, and never missed the chance to watch the Fighting Irish. She was also a devoted companion to her pets including Nippit, Tootsie, Mr. Kitty, Bandit, Andy and Misty. She loved to travel, and a couple of her favorite destinations were Jenny Lake near Jackson Hole, WY and Lake Andrew, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her grandson Bryan Paul, and her former husband Kenneth A. Pedersen, Jr.
Peggy is survived by her children Dan (Holly), Doug, Julie Tokat (Murat), Susan Thompson (Stewart) , and John (Jennifer); sisters Lynne Loftus, Mary Baumann (Steve); brothers John Steichen (Marlene) and Nick Steichen (Anita); ten grandchildren, Tyler Thompson (Meigan), Kelsey Pedersen, Sydney Thompson, Cassidy Paul, Logan Pedersen, Tyler Tokat, Samantha Paulson (Chris), Anna Magnan, Austin Reed, Brooklyn Reed; in-laws Pat Jerhoff, Marcella Pedersen, and Mike Loftus; Uncle Kenneth Wight; and many nieces, nephews and cousins she loved dearly.
A mass will be said in Peggy's memory at 5:00 p.m. on March 21, 2020 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 840 19th Ave N, South St Paul, MN 55075.
The family has postponed a celebration gathering for Peggy until the COVID-19 situation stabilizes. Please reach out to a family member for more details.
In lieu of flowers the family is asking that you make a donation to your local Humane Society in Peggy's honor.
